ormer student at the Beaux Arts de Lorient, Nantes and Marseille (France), Cédric Tanguy has developed the ability to transform everything  around him into art. Extraordinary contaminator, atypical artist, recognized visual manipulation virtuoso, this young artist (born 1972) easily swithces from video to photography, from performance to scenography passing through fashion photography. With irony mixed with compassion, he outlines the anatomy of monstrous ego and celebrity, multiplying metamorphosis and transforming the concept of identity.

Glued to his computer as a “Monaco of the art”, as he calls himself, he creates fantastic works, reworking and mixing images and themes drawn from eighteenth and nineteenth century paintings, creating a kind of delirious contemporary videogame. Digital, surrealists, provocative, baroque, mixed with aestheticism and bestiality, Cédric Tanguy’s  photomontages show a decadent imagination that emanates directly from the mind of this extravagant artist. In his works, Cédric Tanguy plays with different genres, eras, and even techniques, referring to the paintings of great masters like Caspar David Friedrich, his favorite painter.

His irreverent and maybe bizarre works have reached staggering odds. Critics are racing to idolize, art dealers to profit. Cédric Tanguy is currently the highest rated artist of the European landscape. He lives and works in Vence, in southern France.
